The position is for a postdoctoral researcher in organic biogeochemistry at Umeå University, focusing on NMR spectroscopy to study plant responses to increasing CO2 and climate change, combining experiments, world-unique CO2 manipulation samples, and advanced NMR and isotopomer analyses.
Main requirements:
- PhD degree (or equivalent) in chemistry, biochemistry, or related field obtained by the time of employment decision
- Strong motivation and documented experience in organic chemistry
- Practical experience with NMR spectroscopy
- Fluent in English, both spoken and written
- Interest in interdisciplinary research and excellent collaboration skills
Responsibilities:
- Synthesize samples for NMR analysis
- Conduct NMR experiments for organochemical characterization with a focus on quantification of isotopomers
- Interpret isotopomer distributions to understand changes in plant carbon metabolism
- Prepare results for conference presentations and scientific publications
- Collaborate closely with other postdoctoral researchers on related plant ecophysiology experiments
Required hard skills:
- PhD in chemistry, biochemistry, or related discipline
- Experience with NMR spectroscopy
- Proficiency in organic chemistry
